Scramble – Our Wednesday Evening Meal
Every Wednesday night we host a free-will offering meal that we call “SCRAMBLE”. This meal is provided by church groups or groups from the community. Serving time is 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday evening in our Family Life Center. There is no Scramble in the month of June or July this year. All are invited to join us!
On the first Monday of each month starting June 2021 we are partnering with Harvesters for mobile food distribution through our church. This will take place at the Clay Center Fair Grounds, 205 S. 12th street, Clay Center, at 11:30am. Please feel free to sign up to help with this ministry, only 1 hour per month. Co-Leaders are Kathy Beougher and Diane Lykins.
Staring in September 2021 we will be partnering with Harvesters in their Back Snacks program for Lincoln and Garfield Schools here in Clay Center. Carolyn Kirtley will be leading this ministry program. We are reaching out beyond the walls of our church to show mercy and compassion to our community.
Delivery of Friendship Meals
This ministry in partnership with North Central- Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging, Inc. through the local clay center senior center. Friendship Meals provide nutritious meals to approximately 57,000 Kansans in our region. Meals are available in dining center setting or through home delivery from 40 dining centers in our 18-county region and are locally prepared at each of 22 kitchens. We have a team that deliveries meals to the homebound 2 months a calendar year. 5 days a week with pick up meals between 10:45 am – 11:00 am. This allows seniors to have a nutritional meal 5 days a week and a smile and short visit from the delivery person. If you would like to help with this ministry please call Marabeth at the church 632-3106.
This ministry is a big help for our community and we are serving so many neighbors in need. Please continue to stock it with your donations. Looking for non-perishable items. It is located on the Clarke street side of our church building by the Family Life Center entrance.
As part of our ministry to our neighbors around the corner and around the world, we provide volunteers for UMCOR’s Early Response Teams through the Great Plains Conference of the United Methodist Church. These volunteers arrive on scene after natural disasters and provide assistance with cleanup, and spiritual support for those impacted. Please contact the church office if you wish to become an ERT member.
